Female Founders South Meetup #2 16.10.2018

On 16.10.2018 there was a special event at NEXT-Incubator. The evening was dedicated to “Female Entrepreneurship”/”Entrepreneurship as an enabler…for women”. Together with NEXT-Incubator, the Female Founders South, an association for the promotion and networking of female founders, were invited to present the results of the “Women Startup Barometer 2018” and to take part in the subsequent discussion with a star-studded audience from politics and the startup scene.

On the podium were:

  • Henrike Brandstötter (NEOS)
  • Cornelia Daniel (1001 Dach)
  • Anja Silberbauer (Harmony & Care)

The key findings of the Women Startup Barometer are that the main motives of women’s founding revolve around the themes of “self-fulfilment and flexibility”. According to those who took part in the survey, more than anything else, successful founders need courage and a good network. This was also confirmed by the panel in the discussion. A “healthy couldn’t care less attitude”, “make things easy because what bad could happen” were the recommendations that the speakers passed on to the event community. Another central topic of discussion was the importance of personality development and how entrepreneurship enhances personal development.

There has been a Female Founders South foundation initiative in Graz since March 2018, which is an association to promote and network female founders. The association was founded by Mag. Martina Hölzl (NEXT-Incubator), Mag. Julia Plakolm (Center for Entrepreneurship and Applied Business Studies at Karl-Franzens-University Graz) and Stefanie Horvath, MA (Studo App). It is a branch of the successful Viennese association, Female Founders. In this way, future founders and women who have already founded businesses in the Graz area get access to an international network of strong and experienced women: from founders and experts to female managers and investors.
